In the contemporary world, education is one of the key factors for the success of an individual. Education instills knowledge in the younger generation. In addition, education may enable the younger generation to change their mindset. This may be a critical factor in ensuring the future prosperity of the younger generation and the nation as a whole.
Most countries appreciate the importance of education in their future economic well-being. Therefore, governments invest heavily in education. They ensure that people can access quality education. All levels of education are critical to a country’s future economic well-being. A country should not focus on institutions of higher learning and neglect elementary schools.
This is because elementary school provides a solid foundation for the younger generation. Quality education increases the number of educated people in the society. Educated people are the role models of the society. The society has high expectations on educated people. In various parts of the world, university students have helped in mobilizing political uprisings against dictatorial powers.
Therefore, the main responsibilities of educated people to the society are contributing to the development of various spheres of the society, imparting knowledge to the younger generation, and achieving personal success in accordance with their own expectations. Therefore, it is the duty of educated people to ensure ensure the advancement of the welfare of the society.
Societies usually face various problems. Education may enable the society to overcome some of the problems. Therefore, it is the duty of an educated person to devise strategies that would help the society overcome the problems. Educated people should apply their knowledge and critical thinking skills in solving the problems that the society faces.
An educated person with legal knowledge should use it to solve the legal issues that the society faces. On the other hand, an educated person with environmental knowledge should use the knowledge to help in tackling various environmental issues that the society faces. Educated people should also help in solving the social issues that the society faces.
Young educated people have helped in political uprisings against dictatorial power. Educated people usually use their critical thinking skills to device success strategies against dictatorial leaderships. This may lead to the political emancipation of the society (Higgins 176).
It is hard for dictators to rule in countries that have high levels of education. Those who do, usually strive to silence the young educated people from mobilizing political uprisings against the political establishment. Therefore, political freedom is one the key characteristics of societies that have a large number of educated people.
Educated people spend many years acquiring knowledge as they advance through the education system. In addition, personal experiences and professional practice may improve their knowledge. Therefore, it is vital to ensure that the knowledge of the educated people does not go to waste.
Educated people should use their knowledge in improving the welfare of the society. In addition, to ensure continued advancement of the society, it is vital for educated people to impart their knowledge to the younger generation. Lecturers and tutors are among the most distinguished scholars in the society. These people spend most of their time imparting their knowledge to the younger generation.
In addition, educated parents should ensure that they impart their knowledge to their children. Usually parents who do not have enough education strive to ensure that their children get quality education. Most parents are willing to use all their financial resources to ensure that their children get quality education. In most countries, it is very expensive to access quality education. In addition, most institutions of higher learning, which are critical in improving the knowledge of the society, charge high fees (Nightingale and O’Neil 17).
Therefore, it is critical for governments to ensure that quality education is affordable. Most governments provide students with loans that help in financing their higher education. Students usually repay the loans after they have completed their studies and have found gainful employment.
High cost of quality education locks out people who cannot afford for their education. This may lock out bright students who may have used the education to improve the welfare of the society. Therefore, high cost of quality education limits the ability to impart knowledge to the younger generation.
Educated people are the role models of the society. The society expects educated people to be successful in their fields of specialization. Education increases the probability of people being successful in the future. However, it does not guarantee the ultimate success of the individual.
High level of education enables an individual to get high paying jobs. This would make the individual lead a happier life (Steinberg para 2). The success of educated people may motivate the younger generation to put more effort in their studies. Education increases the likelihood of people escaping from poverty. Therefore, the government should ensure that people have equal opportunities for education.
The government should focus on providing education to minority groups. Ensuring that marginalized groups have access to quality education would ultimately help in reduction of the poverty levels in the society. Educated people may use their knowledge to improve the welfare of people in the community. It is a fact educating people leads to a significant improvement in hygiene. This improves the health status of people in the community.
It is vital for educated people to use their knowledge and wealth for the good of the society. Intellectual ability and position of educated people makes them capable of taking advantage of other people in the society. However, educated people should not take advantage of other people in the society.
Educated people should not use their knowledge to willfully harm other people in the society. This is due to the fact that educated people owe their education to the efforts of the society. Failure to exploit other people in the society would increase the trust people have on educated people. People in the society should be able to trust teachers, politicians and doctors. Sadly, this is not the case.
It is a fact that certain people in all areas of the society who have power have used that power to the detriment of other people in the society or for their personal satisfaction (Maril 186). However, these people have the duty of using their knowledge for the benefit of the society. Failure to take advantage of other people in the society would increase harmony and development of the society.
In the contemporary world, very few jobs need only a high school education. Most jobs require post-secondary education. Therefore, college education does not guarantee that an individual will get a white-collar job. An individual may end up doing blue-collar jobs even after attaining a college education (Carnevale para 4).
Various people use this argument to support the notion that college education is not vital. People who have a four-year college degree may still earn as much as people who graduated from a community college (Mishel para 4). However, this argument is not convincing. This is due to the fact the college education is critical in determining the salaries that employers may be willing to pay prospective employees.
In addition, employers look at the education level and the experience of an individual during promotions. Usually, most people who head various departments of organizations are academically brighter than subordinates of the department. Therefore, education is critical in ensuring that an individual has a high income, which may make the individual live a happy and fulfilling life.
The importance of education necessitates governments to ensure that there is equal access to quality to everyone in the society. Educated people are the role models of the society. The society expects educated people to be highly successful. Educated people have various obligations that they should fulfill to the society. Educated people should ensure that they impart their knowledge to the younger generation.
This would help in the continued advancement of the community. In addition, educated people should use their critical thinking skills to solve various problems that the society may face. Educated people should not use their power and intellectual ability to the detriment of other people in the society or for their self interests. Therefore, it is the duty of educated people to ensure that their activities lead to the advancement of the welfare of the society.
