The programs focus on specific needs of an organization. Production systems represent knowledge in the form of rules and facts.
Employment arrangements refer to the nature of working schedule. In illustrating the effects of these programs to young people, the novel Brave New World by Aldous Huxley provides a working basis of the paper’s arguments. These programs are categorized as either full time, casual, part time, seasonal, contract, or self-employment among many others. Technology has become engrossed in the lives of people to the extent that it has changed the society by making its people happy and less concerned about their freedom. For instance, as the play reveals, Mustapha Mond used to be an independent scientist, but now he only reads the Bible and Shakespeare. He is of the view that humankind’s ultimate goal in life is to be stable and happy.
Therefore, this kind of life has led to his to loss of morals, dignity, values, emotions, and loss of humanity in general. Huxley says, “And if ever, by some unlucky chance, anything unpleasant should somehow happen…to make you patient and long-suffering” (12). Therefore, according to Huxley, tailor-made work programs have negative effects on the society especially the young people.
The society gives the youths discretion to choose what they want to do. Technology has made young people acquire new ideas that sometimes affect their morals. The author uses soma drug in reference to the freedom that the society has provided. The young people have been left to choose what they want, which is risky as the decisions they make are likely to mislead them. For instance, from the play, John decides to commit suicide when his views on the world state society and his personal values clash.
In a world state society, young people will find alternatives to deal with their bad moments and emotions. Huxley uses soma as the alternative of dealing with emotions. Soma is a special drug that individuals use to manage their unpleasant experiences. Young people therefore have proceeded to use such drugs as a way of securing themselves happiness.
Use of drugs such as Soma, which is an example of the many drugs that are available to the youth, shifts the minds of young people from thinking positively. As such, they avoid responsibility of working hard to cater for their needs. Consequently, they end up being lazy and unproductive. The ultimate goals that they should seek to fulfill are happiness. Therefore, this has negative impacts on young people especially those who may have just finished their high school education.
Most of them are free. Therefore, they will always engage in illegal activities such as smoking and use of drugs that may affect their lives in the future. Bernard in the novel is lonely, insecure, and isolated. However, when he meets John during his trip to reservation, he becomes popular and transformed. He participates in all aspects of the world state society even engaging in promiscuous sex, which he once criticized. This depicts the consequences of how employment arrangements may change the way an individual thinks.
There is also a suggestion of ensuring that the caste system is maintained, and jobs are created through conditioning. Young people should be assigned the roles that they may want to enable them enjoy their work besides attaining happiness. For instance, in the novel, Helmholtz Watson is intelligent, strong, as well as attractive. He is contended with his job. Therefore, he is respected and liked by many people because of the way he carries himself.
Therefore, youths have the discretion of aspiring to become what they want in life by making a decision of what they want to become. Huxley confirms these claims through the words, “I want to know what passion is…I want to feel something strongly” (62). They should not be denied those opportunities. This therefore requires that young people be selfless in whatever they do. “Everyone works for every one else…When the individual feels, the community reels …” (Huxley 56). They require gratification and appreciation based on what they are doing especially if they are influencing the society positively.

This therefore makes many of them engage in bad behaviors with others resorting to smoking, joining gangs, becoming perpetrators or victims of crime and community violence, and even facing the risk of entering the juvenile system (Travis 443). Therefore, the programs have changed many lives of young people for the worse.
After completing their high school education, these young members join groups that influence them in a negative way hence causing them to behave against the norms of the society. Although many youths are employed on a contract basis, the short-term employment program ought to allow young people to acquire more skills and knowledge in those areas. However, most of them do not take such programs serious. Hence, they do not utilize the opportunity to the fullest.
Furthermore, young people have failed to come up with various initiatives that are geared at the development and personal growth. The youths currently have not yet realized the benefits of forming groups and working towards the attainment of their goals, as well as professional growth.
They have failed to mobilize themselves and come together to work on ways of enhancing their life skills such as how to make healthy decisions about life challenges, management of anger, job preparedness skills, and many other areas that are of importance to their life. The groups that some of the youths have joined have not had any impact on their lives. Youths are unable to make quality decisions about what they want to achieve in the future.
They have resonated to activities that bring them happiness without necessarily engaging in productive initiatives. The programs and employment arrangement have affected most of the young people especially the ones who have just come from their colleges and high schools. The young people who join these tailor-made work groups do not gain salient skills and knowledge in various facets of live. Most of the available programs do not prepare the affected potential group for the future.
As such, this category of people has not yet comprehended and understood the complexities of life. They have not been exposed to challenges of life. Therefore, they tend to misbehave besides undermining the programs. Many indiscipline cases are usually reported among such people because they have not yet settled and do not see the essence of being dedicated to the organizational goals. One of the impacts the programs need to have is to help young people to acquire good leadership skills.
A leader is a person who has a vision and one who aspires to take people to a certain better level. This opportunity is however not realized through this tailor-made programs and employment arrangements. Some youths who have the potential of becoming leaders do not realize this potential.
These youths therefore have a low opinion about themselves thus resolving to view themselves as not being able to lead others. This problem has not yet been managed under these programs and employment arrangements. Therefore, the programs do not inculcate good moral values and behaviors to young people. Rather, they deter them for achieving their goals.
Another impact of these tailor-made programs, employment programs, and production systems of this nature is that they have failed to teach them how to live in harmony with other people through specialization and relationships development (Lavoie, Talbot, and Mathieu 1514). The society is made up of people with different ideologies and life experiences. Therefore, to live well with such people, learning how to deal with them is important. This opportunity is however not realized through such programs.
The future of any nation rests solely on young people. When they are socialized and groomed in a better manner, they grow up appreciating others and adhering to high moral standards and vice versa. Based on the evident large number of unemployed people, which majorly comprises the young people, many countries have put in place strategies that can curb the issue of joblessness in this category of people.
They have developed tailor-made work programs whose main goal is to help young people to secure jobs and consequently reduce several misbehaviors like stealing, drug abuse, and even idling, which are associated with youth. However, as revealed in the paper, despite the governments’ efforts to bring this strategy on board, young people have gone ahead to abuse them.
