Project Scope

Riverside Community Park Project can be regarded as an illustration of a successfully implemented project in the sphere of construction. The project was divided into six phases that, in their turn, involved several stages. Phase 1 was concerned with planning, while phase two involved the creation of accessibility or constructing roads and parking areas to ensure workers’ access to the site (Phillips, 2013). Phases 3-6 involved construction works (construction of hiking trails, indoor swimming pool, soccer facility, and so on). It is necessary to note that the community could take an active part in adjusting the project as people offered various changes. The development of the commercial dock for fishing and boating was one of these changes.

Project Communication to the Stakeholders

It is also possible to note that the project is characterized by effective communication with the stakeholders. First, it is clear that there was effective communication and collaboration between different teams working on the project (Phillips, 2013). All the phases were planned thoroughly, and teams worked consequently or simultaneously, which required effective communication. The project manager communicated with the leaders of the teams to ensure efficient collaboration between all the groups involved.

At that, proper communication within the team is insufficient as it is critical to communicate effectively with such stakeholders as people living in the community and officials (Walker, 2015). The project manager ensured the use of appropriate communication strategies. Thus, people could offer various adjustments, and each of them was commented on. Some changes were implemented while others were declined. At that, people received a substantial answer concerning each suggestion.

The provision of explanations ensured people’s understanding and the development of proper relationships between the management and the community. Finally, the project manager also made sure all the regulations were followed, and all the necessary documents were obtained. Proper communication with officials was important, especially when it came to the changes to the project.

Leadership and Resources

It is clear that the project manager employed a transformational leadership style (Phillips, 2013). All stakeholders were encouraged to share ideas and come up with various initiatives. The leader did not assign tasks but ensured effective collaboration and knowledge sharing. Walker (2015) notes that transformational leadership is one of the most popular and effective leadership styles. This approach has proved to be effective in this case, as well.

The application of transformational leadership in the development of relationships between the community and project management was rather remarkable as people could feel empowered and generated many ideas that made the project more successful.

Thus, the project manager’s use of human resources was quite efficient. First, leaders of teams collaborated to develop a plan and schedules. Secondly, different teams were able to work simultaneously, which allowed the management to save costs and meet deadlines. The negotiations with the community concerning changes can be regarded as an effective marketing strategy as the management showed that the project was consumer-oriented.

The project manager expressed the willingness to meet the needs and wants of the community. This strategy made people view the park in a more favorable light. Clearly, they were also more eager to use some services they suggested, which translated into additional earnings and a significant contribution to the development of the community. The use of technology was appropriate as the project included stages that ensured the wise use of resources.
