Introduction

The main aspect of this paper is to observe the social life of different types of people while traveling to three different campus centers. The travel for observation starts from the College Avenue campus. The first observation point is the Rutgers student center. Once the observation has been done, the bus will travel to the Livingstone campus center, which is the next place to visit. From there journey will again resume and reach the next campus location called Douglass campus location. From there the bus will come back to the College Avenue campus.

Description

Student centers or student activity centers “are the places to meet friends, catch a bite to eat, watch TV, study or relax.” (Student Centers, para.1). The aim of these student centers is to facilitate different types of encouragement programs like expressing ideas, promoting the social culture, and educational activities. Many of these activities are conducted with the help of different organizations of students.

As mentioned earlier, starting location of the journey is from Rughters student center which is located “in the heart of the College Avenue Campus of Rutgers College, one mile from the Downtown New Brunswick Theater, Hotel and Restaurant District.” (Rutgers Student Center, para.1). The facilities provided for students on this campus are extraordinarily good. This campus is not very hard to find. This campus is surrounded by many historic Rutgers buildings. The authorities of the campus welcomed us in a grand way. The seating arrangements made on the campus are very good. The arrangements for sitting are made on both sides of the lane. One is meant for gents and the other is meant for ladies. Many people are walking through the lanes. Some men sitting are watching the ladies when they are passing through the lanes. After sitting there for some time, we walked around the campus to see different facilities available there. After some time bus came to the campus for traveling to the next campus center. Next, we went to the Livingston Student Center. The construction work of this center is still going on in order to make it more spacious and for formulating new facilities. The students gather here mainly to meet their friends, for having food and for some relaxation from their busy life. In Livingston student center all the essential facilities are available and the students need not go far for anything. There are good restaurants, ATMs, post offices, and shops which provide the needs of the students. The Livingston Campus is a big campus that is located in a wide area. There are many trees on this campus which provide a calm atmosphere here. The students sit under the tree and spend their free hours there. There is a separate building for each department like science department, arts department etc and also there is library, lab, music class and all other facilities essential for the students’ education and for their better future life. We spent some more time here than we spent in Rughters student center because our bus went to workshop as it got some problem. The bus came back after 1 hour and we went to the next campus, Douglass campus. “Douglass Campus Center (DCC) provides services and facilities for the Douglass community.” (Douglass Campus Center, para.1). As it is the main place of the Douglass community, the members belonging to the community of Douglass campus assemble here for their meetings and other activities. Like the other two centers, here also all amenities are available. The entry to this campus is very systematic. One thing I found different from other campus is that there are lounges for relaxing and studying for the students which make this campus more attractive.
