Subway Restaurants Australia is a reasonably famous company whose restaurants are spread throughout the country. However, notoriety among consumers did not help the company avoid quality problems. Hence, the main ones are the change in society’s preferences in eating habits and supply problems. These issues have been reflected in the fact that Subway Restaurants are closing an increasing number of their establishments across the country. Thus, within the framework of the discussed problems, the most valuable and effective ways to solve them may be conducting a survey and a cause-and-effect diagram.
First of all, it is necessary to gain an understanding of the quality-related problem that arise within the issuing company before starting to find ways to solve them. Furthermore, external factors seriously affect the internal functioning of the company and how it responses to the devastation and failure. Research notes that “coming out of lockdown, people are now focused on health and nutrition. People are more aware of what’s going into their bodies” (Coё, 2020, para. 4). Hence, many prefer to eat right, and when visiting a restaurant may refuse to eat some foods, such as meat, because of the formed views and trends of society.
The second problem is the issue of supplies, which any company can face, especially for organizations that directly depend on the profit they receive. Thus, the pandemic has seriously affected aspects such as transportation and distribution of provisions. In addition, due to supply problems, the company may experience a serious negative experience in its activities. This can cause mold or general spoilage of products (Debra, 2019). As a result, buyers lose the level of trust and engagement with companies.
The first management tool that can help a company to cope with internal problems is to conduct a survey. This method refers to the tools of qualitative research, which has several advantages over the rest. Hence, the first positive aspect may be the provision of the most valuable and reliable information by interacting directly with respondents. This is especially important since changes in trends among buyers can be critical for the internal organization of the company. Therefore, with the change in customers’ preferences toward healthy eating, more and more restaurants are closing. However, using polling could have prevented this.
The positive impact of using the survey method is to provide an opportunity to anticipate trends and fashion trends in society. This skill helps to increase the competitive position of the company. This will happen due to the fact that Subway will be immediately ready for changes in customer preferences and quickly adapt to the conditions set. However, at the moment, this method has not been fully implemented, which has led to a reduction in the number of food places for residents of Australia.
Another management tool within the framework of the work under consideration is the cause-and-effect diagram. Thus, this method consists in being “used to logically organize possible causes for a specific problem or effect by graphically displaying them in increasing detail, suggesting causal relationships among theories” (“The ultimate guide to cause-and-effect diagrams,” 2018, para. 2). Therefore, the company should collect all the necessary information about the supply problem.
In addition, supplies are one of the most critical aspects of the functioning of the restaurant line of establishments. Quality products ensure the success of sales and customer visits. However, more and more people are complaining that Subway Australia is using expired, stale products. Moreover, research underlines that supply provision is in such poor condition that even employees stop believing in improvements (Dean, 2022; Wiggins & Baird, 2022). Thus, it is necessary to find an effective solution to limit these factors.
Building a model of the causes and their effects can provide the company with an understanding of what exactly influenced the occurrence of supply shortage, which does not allow the staff to work properly and normally. It is worth remembering that despite the fact that managers, in this case, give a lot of freedom of speech to the staff, it is vital to keep a balance of what is allowed. Ganatra et al. (2021) underline that “Subway is needed to keep on striving for better performances to build existing customer loyalty while attracting new customers” (p.48). Thus, I would use this method as a tool for understanding what was reflected in poor supplies. The complexity of this method consists in determining several aspects at once that can negatively affect the productivity of personnel and the productivity of employees.
In conclusion, it is worth noting that in every company, there are some problems that require finding ways to resolve. Thus, Subway Restaurants Australia has such issues as supply problems and a strong influence on consumer trends. The consequence of these aspects is that the company has to take measures to close its catering establishments. I want to implement the use of the selected quality tools and techniques within the organisation as an integral part of its functioning. Therefore, they will be used every six months to make sure there are no issues in the company. The proposed two ways of solving issues complement each other since the survey helps to find the necessary data for the diagram, that will be further analyzed and interpreted.
