Summary

Terrorism was present before the first police station was created, a significant issue that endangered the population. Although police have always battled terrorism, the most radical changes in counterterrorism policies were implemented after the 9/11 incident. By observing the possible scale of destruction, the whole world has started a search for effective counterterrorist measures. Firstly, the police and organizations related to the population’s safety prioritized the prevention of terrorism to minimize the damage. The police stations were not only employed by the latest means of technology but also trained effectively to handle these severe issues. The significant change in police management was directed towards improving communication between all the officers, as rapid and effective communication is a fundamental aspect of safety (Deflem & Chicoine, 2019). Moreover, the police stations started improving information security and were given particular attention as their role in battling terrorism could be tremendous (Ben Jaffel, 2020). A high level of professional preparation is crucial for police officers, as the early signs of terrorism could be spotted first by the police.

POSDCORB in Police

POSDCORB is an acronym widely used in management, and it involves planning, organizing, staffing, directing, coordinating, reporting and budgeting. The police agency utilizes planning, involving the definition of short-term goals of each department and long-term goals of the whole organization. Organizing in the police station involves the creation of organizational structure, points of authority, and responsibilities. Staffing is a crucial aspect of any agency, and it consists of recruiting office workers and officers, their continuous education, and job satisfaction. Directing is essential, as it involves applying correct leadership to reach the objectives. As police station workers often operate in teams, it is paramount to have effective coordination through improving communication and promoting respect and equality. Reporting, this section involves a proper distribution and awareness of roles and responsibilities and effective reporting of accomplished work. Lastly, efficient planning of budget and allocating of resources is essential, as well as having contingency funds to address urgent matters (Mahmoud & Mukhtar, 2021).
