Parenting

Parents often fail to figure out how to raise cognitively solid and well-rounded children. Some parents are complex, and others are soft because raising children is hard work; some are alert, while others seem aloof. The four basic parenting practices employed in child evolutionary psychology are permissive, authoritative, neglectful, and authoritarian (Kuppens & Ceulemans, 2019). Each style of parenting has a particular impact on kids’ behavior and may be distinguished by certain traits, as well as amounts of attentiveness and overprotectiveness.

Parenting Styles

Mother

Permissive parenting is a style of parenting distinguished by minimal expectations and strong attentiveness. Permissive parents are often very caring but impose minor restrictions and rules. These parents do not anticipate adult conduct from their youngsters and frequently appear to be more of a companion than a parent. Permissive mothers are more likely to play a relationship position with their children than a parenting role. They like to prevent confrontation and will frequently give in to their children’s pleadings at first sight of trouble. Mom usually lets me do whatever I want and gives me only minimal advice or supervision. It affected me so much that I never learned to adequately deal with my emotions, especially when I did not get what I wanted. Children with indulgent parents may struggle to cope with stressful or emotionally challenging situations.

Father

Authoritarian parenting is distinguished by fair expectations and a high level of attentiveness. While authoritative parents may have expectations for students, they also provide their children with the help and opportunities they require to achieve. This type of parent listens to their children and provides love and comfort in conjunction with boundaries and reasonable chastisement. This parenting style avoids punishments and intimidation in favor of tactics like constructive feedback. Authoritarian parents are loving, helpful, and frequently aware of their parents or caregivers. They educate their children on morals and logic via honest and forthright dialogues. Children that have authoritarian parents are more personality and capable of thinking for themselves. It influenced me in such a way that I was always confident in my skills and social position. I always knew how to start a dialogue and tell something interesting to the interlocutor.

Brother

Neglectful parents spend little time with their children and rarely enforce laws. They can also be perceived as cold and unsympathetic – but this is not necessarily on purpose, as they are frequently dealing with personal concerns. Unengaged parenting, often known as negligent parenting, is a parenting style defined by a lack of attentiveness to a child’s needs. Unassociated parents place few to no expectations on their children and are frequently apathetic, dismissive, or entirely negligent. It is crucial to emphasize that uninvolved parenting is not always deliberate. It can happen for a variety of causes, including parental history and anxiety. Since my older brother was not directly responsible for my upbringing, his position only affected my relationship with him. His prejudice against me each time more and more moved away from each other.

Uncle

Authoritarian parenting is associated with high expectations and minimal response. It recognized two more parenting types, authoritative parenting and parenting practices, in complement to parental involvement. Authoritarian parents frequently communicate to their youngsters without requesting input or reaction in order to maintain complete control. Authoritarian parents have high expectations for students but give little in the form of feedback and nurture. Accidents are frequently penalized brutally. When feedback is provided, it is frequently negative. The authoritarian approach is also characterized by yelling and physical punishment. Because my uncle had this parenting strategy, I didn’t want to spend time with him. My parents did not always notice his message in education, but sometimes it was unpleasant for me.

Attachment Style

Analyzing my character, I realized that secure attachment is inherent in me. A sensitive and nurturing link between parent and kid is represented by the securely attached. The youngster develops the ability to create good relationships with others around them as a result of feeling loved and cared for. Children that have stable attachment patterns are engaged and confident in their relationships with others. Those who establish safe attachment types as children are more likely to retain this healthy bonding style into adulthood and have no difficulty developing long-term partnerships without fear of desertion.

My Default Parenting Style

For myself, I realized that my father’s parenting style helped me a lot in my own development, not only as a child but also as a future parent. Authoritarian parents are more likely to produce children who are autonomous, self-sufficient, and socially adept. While children of authoritative parents are not exempt from mental health problems, interpersonal problems, drug dependence, poor self-regulation, or negative self, these characteristics are more likely in children of parents who rigorously practice autocratic, liberal, or unengaged styles of parenting. I believe that my type of attachment and parenting style will play the right combination in order for my child to grow up in well-being.
