Introduction

It is suggested that progressive technologies can bring into reality the complete automation of Canadian cars. Consequently, it can lead to the abolishment of pricey automobile insurances in the country.

Main body

Car insurances make the drivers feel safe. According to Canadian Transport Bureau, approximately 140,000 car accidents occur in the country each year (“Leading Causes of Car Accidents” par. 1). This fact motivates automobile owners to purchase car insurance, while they feel safer knowing that their property is protected. Without insurance, even the most experienced driver would feel unconfident and alert, since any car can get damaged.

The prices of car insurance are lowering in Canada. The injury claims in Canada reached $56,000 in 2011. However, in 2013, the average prices for automobile insurances went down drastically (Roseman par. 3). The largest insurance companies in the country cut their rates. The changes were stipulated by the new regulation that was issued by Financial Services Commission. Based on it, the car owners could receive their insurances for lower prices, depending upon a type of their vehicle and a place of living. High-quality insurances are not too costly for drivers in Canada. Thus, it is possible for car owners to protect their vehicles without spending much money neither on insurance nor for the purchases of automated cars.

The policies that govern automobile insurances in Canada were improved. According to the innovative Hagerty program, car owners in Canada are not required to provide any appraisal so as to receive coverage. Moreover, they are assisted in obtaining proper valuations of their cars (Hagerty par. 1). Thus, progressive insurance politics can become a backbone of the safety of Canadian vehicles, while the consequences of the abolishment of insurances through the usage of new technologies are unpredictable.

The appliance of innovative technologies is expensive. Canadian experts claim that there are 4 types of technologies that can help the government to eliminate insurance policy: telematics, robot cars, avoidance of collisions, and automated enforcement (Hyle par. 5). Undoubtedly, the innovations are quite successful, but they require a complete redesign of a standard car building process, which is expensive.

Technologies can not protect a car from nature. A full automation of cars can partly prevent the drivers from getting into accidents. Still, the car owners have to consider the fact that no technology can protect an automobile from the natural damages that can be afflicted by earthquakes or hurricanes. Therefore, the power of nature can destroy even automated cars.

Many Canadian drivers are not ready to accept automated vehicles. According to the survey that was held by Chubb Insurance Group, only 18 % of consumers are willing to purchase innovative cars in Canada (Yerak par. 23). The drivers explain such an attitude by their unpreparedness to pioneer the new riding systems. In fact, the rules of driving an automated car differ from the traditional ones. Thus, society should be well instructed on the usage of new technologies before their actual appliance.

Even highly automated cars can be stolen or vandalized. According to automobile insurance policies, any driver has a legal right to require coverage for a stolen or vandalized car. In contrast to it, the abolishment of car insurance would automatically discard this rule and car owners would have no chance to receive recompenses.

The abolishment of car insurance would lead to the bankruptcy of a wide range of Canadian insurance corporations. Since insurance companies constitute a substantial part of the Canadian economic system, their bankruptcy can become a precondition of its decadence. Therefore, the absence of car insurance can damage not only personal finances but the financial system of the country as well.

Automobile insurance is not only a guarantee of financial recoupment is also a crucial warrant of legal protection. In some cases, car accidents become the starting point of lawsuits, while drivers can be indicted of causing damages to the other drivers’ automobiles. On such occasions, car insurances provide attorneys for the accused. Consequently, the absence of automobile insurances can turn into prolonged court prosecutions for Canadian drivers.

The abolishment of automobile insurances can deprive the drivers of some crucial daily trips. It is a common fact that North Americans are the most progressive users of vehicles. Naturally, almost every adult Canadian possesses a car. The damage of a personal automobile can become a ruinous event for any driver who has no opportunities to repair it since he/she loses the means of transportation between such destinations as a place of work and home.

Conclusion

Consequently, the abolishment of automobile insurances in Canada can have a perilous effect on the life of citizens of this country. Technological innovations that are directed upon the automation of cars should be implemented gradually. In another case, the process can damage not only the safety of the civil population but the economic system of Canada as well.
