I would like to be a teacher who fully understands the subject matter in my area of specialization. To achieve this I will ensure that I will regularly read a variety of books and particularly those pertaining to my area of focus. I will also ensure that I always remain updated on curriculum development as well as on global news. I will seize any opportunity that arises to further my studies concerning the subject matter, attend part time classes, in service-training or even seminars on effective teaching methods.
In addition, I would like be a teacher who knows my students individually by name and by background, an educator who maintains a professional distance with the learners other than an intimate relationship, and one who allows for the students individual differences. I would like to be a teacher who represents diversity of the students and one who uses instruction and learning strategies that characterize the students’ background, social economic status, exceptional needs and learning approaches. As a professional teacher, I aspire to use appraisal strategies that will be useful in assisting the constant maturity of my learners. While doing this, I will adopt a sound attitude and assess the learners, not according to their weakness and personal understanding, but in view of their performance.
Moreover, I would like to be an organized teacher who will implement and evaluate efficient instructions in different learning environments. At the beginning of each year, I will ensure that I prepare annual outlines and also prepare weekly class outlines together with class assignments and homework. I am an Individual who is time conscious and who will comfortably manage and utilize my time properly. This is because, I love my career and I am dedicated to it.
As a professional educator, I desire to use my understanding of learning, human growth and development to provide a positive learning environment to my learners where they will be actively involved in social instructions, self drive and learning, and hence promote their intellectual, social and personal development. In this process, I shall use appropriate expertise while engaging in constant quality improvement tactics.
Furthermore, I wish to engage my professional knowledge in communicating using effective techniques while instructing the learners. This will enhance the educational experiences of the learners. This is because; I am a good communicator who enjoys explaining things while maintaining my command of subject matter. In addition, I always try to contain my temper in all circumstances. What’s more, I possess the ability to tactfully create interest in the students while teaching and can apply humor which can help in simplifying any undertaking no matter how tough it may seem to the learners. This can help to avoid monotony and enhance the students’ concentration and participation.
As a matter of fact; I hope to employ suitable techniques and strategies useful in promoting and enhancing the critical, artistic, and evaluative conceptualizing capabilities of my learners while demonstrating my understanding of the subject matter.
Indeed, I have a very strong desire in my heart to assist students achieve their goals and to build their self-confidence and trust making them to believe in themselves and in their abilities. I am enthusiastic about helping students discover what I have learned and believe to be of value. I also love to inspire learners to explore their potential maximally. Instead of getting mad at the students who demonstrate poor academic performance, I wish to encourage them to try and do better.
