Clearly, the interaction between different cultures is a fact that cannot be ignored. Their several ways this interaction happens. People travel, they do business, and they live in diverse communities. US society is very diverse, and people are coming from different cultures. Backgrounds have to co-exist. Rodriguez (n.p.) considers the interaction between people within communities, while Theroux (n.p.) focuses on traveling and people’s attitude towards it.

It is important to note that both authors stress that people have a different attitude towards other cultures as some are open to everything new while others want to be reserved. Of course, when it comes to traveling, it has lots of advantages and only a few downsides related to some travel problems (Theroux). People learn a lot of new things, and they get to know new important things. While traveling, people enrich their knowledge as they have an opportunity to get some part of the wisdom of other cultures. At the same time, it can be difficult to live in a diverse society. People interact, and there can be a lot of misunderstandings and even conflicts.

Even in neighborhoods where people pertain to one cultural group, there can be conflicts. However, in neighborhoods where people from different cultural backgrounds live, these ordinary issues become more serious as people can have different mindsets and different ways to solve such problems. Rodriguez also mentions a very important issue (n.p.). The author stresses that people in diverse communities often have problems with self-identity.

Americans have had only several categories to identify people pertaining to different cultures. Nonetheless, lots of people do not know how to identify themselves. The author notes that this is a big problem, and the American society should address this issue. Therefore, it is clear that there are lots of issues related to the interactions of different cultures. However, cultural diversity is inevitable, and people should learn to live in diverse communities. People can live together and can interact effectively even if they come from different cultural backgrounds. In different cultures, people have gained a lot of knowledge, and now it is time to use this knowledge to cope with global issues.
