Therefore, the socio-economic importance of the customs system of the United Arab Emirates is very high. This is because the customs service, as a federal executive body and a socio-economic institution of the state, carries out its activities in accordance with the priorities of state policy and strategic goals of the country’s socio-economic development.
The customs system of the United Arab Emirates is one of the earliest government departments in the country. The customs system of Dubai began its formation in the twentieth century. Dubai Customs has been called the “Mother of Government Departments” (History & Background, 2021). This name was given to it because other agencies were located in the old customs building and were funded by customs revenue. As a socio-economic institution of the state, the Customs Service is a kind of intermediary between the state and the market to achieve specific goals of the country in the real conditions of the market economy. Offering its services to the state customs relates to other institutions in the field in the way that it is a non-profit entity in the field of public services, which is usually dominated by state institutions-entities that most effectively and strategically most consistently implement the services required by the state. Therefore, each of the state institutions, promoting its services in the field of public services, should ideally strive to optimize the organizational structure and activities in order to be competitive and fully meet the needs of the country.

Effectively established communications bring mutual benefits to the customs department, the business community, and society. The main goal of well-established communication links is to achieve full public awareness of the activities of the customs department and the legal framework applied by it, which undoubtedly significantly affects the creation and maintenance of a positive image and high business reputation of the entire customs service. The media quickly and effectively communicate information to the general public and the target audience, making them a valuable tool for public relations services designed to build relationships between the department and external communicators (Roberts et al., 2017). Therefore, well-established relations with the mass media should become one of the main links in the information and communication strategy of the State Institute of customs.
The social impact of the customs service is reflected in its indirect impact on the development of the Dubai economy as a whole and its individual sectors and improving the standard of living of all members of society.
