Introduction
Howard Gardener developed the theory of multiple intelligence (MI) in 1983. Gardner defined intelligence as a bio-psychological ability to process information that can be assimilated into a culture to create solutions and products that add value to the community (Wulansari et al., 2022). The method proposes that there are many more types of intelligence in humans. Moreover, it contends that each individual exhibits eight stages of cognitive development, which comprise multilingual, coherent, spatial, compositional, physiological, realistic, interactional, and intrapersonal intellect (Wulansari et al., 2022). Gardner’s model suggests that people are not born with all the intelligence because some develop during life.
Discussion
Understanding the MI for adolescents is essential in teaching because it helps teachers understand the kind of students they have in terms of abilities, innovativeness, and talent. Adolescents require the MI assessment because their developmental stage necessitates making significant decisions, such as choosing what to study in college (Bergin & Bergin, 2019). MI information assists in the early identification of talents and capabilities. MI outcome enables teachers to help students maximize their potential and work to improve their weakest areas (Ganiev et al., 2021). MI can also be utilized in career counseling among adolescents by helping them choose what they feel they can do effectively and passionately. Moreover, MI evaluation can help build learners’ self-confidence, which is paramount in learning.
Conclusion
I agree with my MI assessment results because they reflect who I am. I scored high on Visual/Spatial (91%), I am precisely good at directions, maps, charts, videos, and pictures I recollect more specifics regarding what I can perceive than what I hear. I additionally performed well on Intrapersonal (88%) since I am highly conscious of the person I have become. I am always in touch with my emotions, feelings, and inspirations. I also had a good score on Verbal/ Linguistic (81%) because I am good at writing and speaking, reading widely has helped a lot in this aspect. On the contrary, my low score was on naturalistic (50%), I care about conserving the environment but could improve at natural exploration.
