It is hard to disagree that volunteering plays an essential role in the development of societies. People sincerely help each other in difficult life situations, as well as in strengthening and maintaining the success of the country and various local initiatives. Not only does volunteering contribute to the improvement of the community’s unity, but it also helps each individual develop valuable qualities, build new relationships, and feel the creative power of helping. However, while I understand the necessity of volunteering and do not deny my desire to play a role in a positive process, I do not have such an experience.
In other words, I have never volunteered or supervised volunteers, and the reasons for that are rather simple. Being busy with my studies, work, and hobbies, I face some difficulties finding time to search for an organization, get acquainted with its volunteering requirements, and apply. Further, even if I find an appropriate place where I can volunteer, I doubt that I will always find the energy to do that. In my opinion, such a practice is primarily for individuals who are full of inner force that consists of happiness, self-acceptance, general satisfaction, hopefulness, and positive attitudes. I believe that volunteers should be energetic in order to share their emotions and efforts and then have something left for themselves. As for me, I feel that if I become a volunteer in the nearest future, I will not have enough time to recover from my studies and work, so my contribution will be negligible. Nevertheless, I truly aim to volunteer at some elderly care programs in the future. I feel that working with seniors will benefit both them and me.
