Compare two (2) job positions from the episode and perform a job analysis of each position

One position is the person who prepares the food, fries, burgers, ice cream, and others. It takes skill and understanding of the cooking process, as the food must be ready within the shortest amount of time. The equipment that is used for cooking food requires special knowledge and adherence to certain standards. Another position is the shift manager. This person controls the order in the restaurant and makes sure that the standards are applied. The individual is also in charge of directing the staff to the priorities and overlooks any problems that might take place. The work habits are overall positive; the person possesses managerial and people skills. Has the freedom of action and application of the company’s rules.

The fact that the position has authority over the other creates positive and negative effects. The positive ones relate to the overlook of situations and a chance to control the actions of others. The manager is placed into the position because they have the necessary skills to step back and see the situation from a different angle. Their knowledge is also greater, as they have special education or/and experience in the field. The position of a cook is much different, as they are the person who carries out the duties and supports the infrastructure of the restaurant. They are the “work force” of the establishment and play a significant role in the business. Since they have instrumental knowledge of the trade, their duties entail the largest part of the company but they still have to take directions from the management. One position is that of obedience and the key role of the service being provided, whereas the other is of authority and addition to the work of others (Watson, 2008).

Describe your method of collecting the information for the job analysis (i.e., one-on-one, interview, survey, etc.)

The collection of information takes on several forms. One is a personal interview with the employees. In reality, it is hard to guess what each employee thinks and feels, so it is crucial to talk to the person and find out their point of view. The use of a survey in a form of a questionnaire would also prove useful, as a person will be able to rate their satisfaction and duties. Performance at the job is another important aspect of the interview. The way an employee views their own work is important, as they relate to how their ability interacts with the work environment. It would also be useful to conduct a survey of the customers and managers. The customers will provide valuable information as to the feedback about the work of the personnel. The public has a much different perspective of the work of the people involved in the fast-food restaurant business, thus having opinions that are different from the people directly involved in the business. Even though managers have direct responsibility for the workers, their views are unique and specific to their job. They might provide insight into things that are not noticed by other workers, as they are looking at the work of the restaurant from a distance (Pride, 2010).

Create a job description from the job analysis

The position of a “cook” includes the knowledge of the equipment that prepares the food. The grill and frying ovens require special knowledge of the unique nature of the process. Psychologically, a person can be greatly focused on their job. It is a place where they can practice and display their skills, gaining respect for themselves and from others. The position of a manager entails the organization and control of the staff of a particular working shift. Conflict resolution is another important aspect of work that must be used to mediate the situation and find ways that will help people determine the correct path of action. It is a preventative measure and is often used in a stressful and possibly, violent situation. The manager must know their employees and adjust the situation and mediation according to the personal characteristics of every person (Halbert and Ingulli, 2010).

Justify your belief that the job analysis and job description are in compliance with state and federal regulations

Mistreating employees physically or emotionally is not acceptable. The fact that they have deep knowledge of the company and have input hard word, proves that they are loyal and a part of the organization. The company is successful partly due to their efforts and skills, as they have contributed to the organization and did not leave at times of pressure. There must be a balance between the working force and the management. Not only does the company risk entrusting its matters to inexperienced employees, thus hurting its profits and reputation, but it might also create a predisposition where people will analyze the company’s policies as unfair. People must get proper training and understanding of the work they are involved in. In order to meet the standards of the food industry, proper procedures must be carried out. The food must be made from organic materials and adhere to health standards. For a company that is so greatly involved with the customers, a strong employee base must be present. It already has an established support division that can address any issues presented (Jennings, 2005).
