Speaking about the modern world, it is necessary to understand that the problems related to culture, self-expression, and the links between them remain very important as they cause a lot of conflicts in different countries. Intercultural conflicts become more obvious when it comes to certain elements of the traditional clothing of Muslims. Nevertheless, in order to solve the given problem, it may be necessary to stabilize the situation without preventing Muslim women from wearing whatever they want.
There is the article that appeared in The Guardian devoted to the recent activity of the UK Independence Party led by Paul Nuttall. One of the measures that this politician and his supporters would like to implement is banning the burqa, and such a decision caused a lot of discussions related to the appropriateness of covering yourself in a democratic society. Apart from being an extraneous cultural element to Europeans, women wearing burqas are claimed to prevent the police from successfully safeguarding due to an increased terrorist threat. In reference to this opinion, I can say that I disagree with the given politician due to the fact that democratic society should involve taking different opinions into account, and it is inappropriate to control the way that women dress and deprive them of their right to cover their faces in public. Moreover, I would like to mention that there are different opinions on the necessity to cover face even among Muslims, and women from other parts of the world cover their faces despite the religion that they exercise.
In the end, I suppose that the arguments of Nuttall cannot be considered sound because democracy should not involve forcing other people to stop wearing clothes they find important.
