Introduction
Physical exercise is any activity that involves movement of either part or the whole the body. It has been encouraged by doctors and health experts the world over. Physical exercise can range from a thorough workout at the gym to simple activities like walking up staircases, brisk walking, running, jogging or rope skipping. Health experts maintain that physical exercise must be included in one’s life for them to have a truly healthy body. A wide range of reasons has been given for the need for exercise. This paper is aimed at discussing some of the reasons why people exercise.
Discussion
Exercise can improve your mood. After a long tiring day, some simple exercise like a jog or a walk can calm you down and get some pressure off your body (Rot, Collins, Fitterling , 2009). This leaves you feeling refreshed and revitalized. When you exercise, some chemicals stimulated in your brain make you feel happier and relaxed. Chances of depression are greatly reduced leading to a more healthy and vibrant life.
Some chronic diseases are known to be prevented or are better managed with some good and regular physical exercise (Hage, Mattsson, Ståhle, 2003). Heart disease, obesity, and hypertension are just but a few to mention. Exercise helps the blood flow with more energy and helps burn harmful fats that can lead to artery thickening. This could lead to hypertension and heart disease. Exercise is also believed to reduce the risk of breast cancer by up to 60%. Body exercise reduces the level of Estradiol and progesterone hormones which are associated with breast cancer development. Breast cancer patients and women in general are encouraged to exercise often so they can reduce their chances of developing breast cancer. Bodybuilding has even been used and encouraged as a way of fighting breast cancer.
Exercise can also be a natural, cost free and effective means of controlling body weight. As you exercise, you burn calories. This is particularly great because simple exercises like walking up the stairs or taking a brisk walk will normally be enough. These simple activities help regulate body weight, make you healthier and give you a great look.
Vitality and energy boosts are other benefits of exercise. Oxygen and nutrients are delivered faster and more effectively to body tissues leading to increased energy levels. The entire cardiovascular system works better and blood is delivered to the lungs and heart faster leading to freshness and alertness. More Physical stamina and strength are also achieved and these are vital in everyday activities in life.
It has been argued that exercise can improve the quality of sleep. Exercise will help you fall asleep in a shorter time. Worked muscles will require rest and the body responds by falling asleep. It is however advised not to exercise too close to the time of sleep because this can lead to lack of sleep due to too much energy in the body.
Good and regular exercise can help you gain a nice and sexy physique. This can enhance your sexual life and freedom. A sexy person is definitely a lot more confident and energized with regard to sexual issues and will tend to experiment more and more because of the confidence they have about how they look. People who exercise regularly also tend to have fewer problems with their libido as they age. This is therefore a very good reason as to why we should exercise.
Posture and body coordination are closely linked to physical exercise. Exercise leads to a firmer body posture and improved body coordination. The body is also made more agile and menstrual cramps are reduced in women. For those who would love to have great bodies, physical exercise helps tune up, condition and shape the body up better. The muscles are toned up and made firmer for a more turgid and sexy look.
Exercise also has other benefits that are not necessarily physical. It can be fun and be taken up as a hobby. Gyms and aerobics classes have become popular places for socializing and many people have met their spouses at these places. Salsa dancing is also a great way to get some physical exercise while having a lot of fun and experiencing a different culture. Jogging can be made fun of by getting jogging partners or finding an appropriate accompaniment like says a portable music player.
Conclusion
There are therefore many reasons for people to exercise so that they can have a good balance between sound minds and healthy bodies. The benefits of exercise are immense and everyone should strive to exercise so that they can live a long and healthy life.
