Introduction
Our choice of product to sell on the internet and other outlets is preinstalled baby car seats. We intend to sell the product to General Motors Corporation. The company has a worldwide market reach and caters to the different needs of its customers. We will target family market segments, especially those with a small child and who want to buy a family car. We also intend to offer services that will include adjusting the baby seats as per the requirements of the customers as well as installing the baby seats to customers who may wish to do so on their cars. We expect those seeking adjustments or installations of the baby car seats to visit car dealerships affiliated with General Motors. To sell our idea, we will carry out a SWOT analysis on the project and look at the positioning that we intend to make for the product.
Discussion
Our project has the potential of being successful although it will face many challenges. Carrying out a SWOT analysis will put into perspective the strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats that the project may encounter.
Strengths
Research on car accidents shows that babies and small children are prone to fatal injuries during an accident. This is because conventional car seats fail to accommodate their small stature. This may also be attributed to the fact that safety belts have proved inadequate in protecting little ones in cases of accidents. Sometimes, even when the young ones are placed in removable car seats, it has been proven that the seats can be dislodged during an accident and are, therefore, ineffective. This creates a ready market for our product. Families while shopping for a car can do so in the dealerships and choose a car that will cater to the safety of all including their young ones. Management of dealerships will also custom make the baby seats to fit the needs of each client.
Weaknesses
The major weakness that our proposed project may face is competition from removable baby car seats. We may also face the problem of selling the idea to potential customers who may find it unnecessary to buy a car with preinstalled baby seats. Another weakness that our proposed project may face will come from the management of dealerships against the project.
Opportunities
As mentioned above, opportunities for our product lie in the fact that many people are dissatisfied with the removable baby seats. Opportunities also come from the fact that people with small children are looking for ways to enhance the safety of their children in case they are involved in an accident.
Threats
Our product may face the threat of competition, especially from removable baby car seats. Another threat that the product might face will be a lack of appreciation by our primary target market.
Positioning
We intend to position our product safely and effectively to enhance the safety of small children in vehicles. We want our product to be the first thing that consumers seek when they are buying cars. Although we expect that the product might face a lot of competition from other concepts such as removable baby car seats, we will appeal to consumers that our product is superior to the rest. We will seek to extend our products to a global audience and offer to service of the seats in dealerships affiliated with General Motors. Currently, there is no manufacturer offering preinstalled baby car seats and this makes our product to be the first one in the market.
