Sporting facilities are becoming necessary in every country due to the increasing demand for health and fitness facilities. Sports and training facilities are some of the key infrastructures any organization needs to think about constructing. The sporting complex is vital for any child and adult; sports promote healthy and maximum development in humans. The availability of physical fitness facilities allows people to participate in physical fitness. Through participation in sporting activities, people can interact, therefore helping to build a strong community. Sports always help people relieve boredom as they can find where to spend their free time.

The sporting facility will be built in Miami, Florida, United States. The facility will be sport-specific, and it will also offer indoor training services. The indoor section of the facility will be fitted with sport-specific training equipment. The section will consist of a complete gym fully equipped with weight for strength training, a turf field that the athletes will utilize for agility exercises and other exercises, and sport-specific drills conducted on the turf field. A 100-yard turf football field will also be constructed in the facility. The football field will be used to train footballers and also for hosting major league and international games. It will directly benefit the communities as they will be able to access the field for exercises to minimize exposure to accidents resulting from road runs and attacks by criminals. The community will own the facility, but it will be rented out to league teams who wish to utilize it for gaming activities and training. The sporting complex will also employ people within the community and will only outsource skills not found within the community. It will help create employment. By employing youths within the area, the complex will help fight crime as youths will be able to find a source of income.

Facility Location

The facility will be built in Miami, situated in the southeastern part of Florida at the mouth of the Miami River. The facility to be built in the area is significant to the community and the visitors. Most of the facilities within the region are either owned by institutions or by private individuals, leaving the community with no choice for leisure for the members who love participating in sports. The area also hosts serious sporting events, attracting several people every year. The city hosts major teams: the Miami Heat Basketball team, Miami Marlins, a baseball team within the region, and the Miami Dolphins, a major football team. These teams have won a major championship, classifying the city as a major sporting city.

The city is chosen because it has found a niche in the sporting arena. The facility will be built on a 6 acres piece of land. The site selected is ideal for the facility due to its nearness to the road and the availability of vast land, allowing for future expansion of the sporting facility. The region also hosts major schools and universities, making it a potential host for various international students; thus, it’s a vital region for constructing the sporting complex.

Facility Features

Bleachers

The stadium will be equipped with bleachers, and the bleachers will be designed to have a roof for the outdoor section of the facility, while the indoor arenas will be fixed with bleachers with no roofs. The bleachers to be used within the facility will be manufactured from steel. The bleachers will be permanently fixed to ensure safer and protect the spectators from any injury. The steel bleachers are chosen because of the strength and durability of the material. The bleachers will be of different sizes based on the available spaces left by the facility designers. The bleachers that will be fixed with roofs will be installed in the section used by the VIPs, and the technical bench for each team will be sitting.

Gymnasium

Athletes and the community will use the facility; thus, there is a need to meet the need of both parties. The facility will be equipped with both strength and cardio facilities. Most of the facilities installed in the gym will be able to offer both cardio and strength training. Some of the gym facilities installed in the gymnasium include dumbbells, squat racks, and barbels, among other equipment. The gymnasium will be equipped with dumbbells that range from light to heavyweight. The dumbbells purchased for the indoor gym will be made from cast iron and coated with thick rubber. These types of equipment are chosen because of their durability and ease of use. Different people will use the gym; therefore, lasting materials and equipment must be installed. The dumbbells will be fixed type because of the safety that they offer. They are, however, bulky and, therefore, will demand large storage where a dumbbell rack can be installed.

The gymnasium will also be equipped with a barbel; the barbel will be long enough to allow for other exercises. The barbel used in the facility will be standard since the athletes will require standard equipment to compete effortlessly with their peers in other counties and countries. The squat racks will be mounted on the gym walls and fixed on the floor to ensure stability. Apart from the squat rack, the facility will have inclined, declined, and flat benches for strength training, especially the bench press. The gym will incorporate cardiovascular training; therefore, a few pieces of cardiovascular equipment will be incorporated because most cardiovascular exercises will be conducted on the field. The few installed will be used for warm-ups within the gym before lifting begins and cooling down. Stationary bikes and treadmills are some of the gym equipment installed in the facility gymnasium.

The gymnasium will be very large in space; thus, it will accommodate eight squat racks, including weights, benches, and a power-clean platform. The facility will also have free weights that will go up to 150lbs. the gymnasium will be equipped with two regular treadmills and two manual curve treadmills that will allow us to focus more on speed, two exercise bikes, and three glute hamstring machines. Additionally, a gym section will have resistance bands, medicine balls, box jumps, rollers, and other equipment incorporated into different workouts.

Artificial Turf fields are always used in indoor sporting activities globally. The materials used in manufacturing turf are very durable; hence, minimal maintenance is associated with the item. Unlike natural turf, which is always prone to maintenance increasing costs due to the changes in seasons and wears it incurs during sporting activities (Jastifer et al., 2019). Artificial turf is also the best choice for the indoor arena due to its ability to endure intense pressure from football, soccer, or baseball. The turf field will be designed to meet the various demands of the facility.

The turf will be 50 yards long. This length is vital to the athletes and coaches using the facility. The length will be 50 yards to enable the player to have the ability to train their speed in a less restrictive environment. The surface of the indoor arena will be made of artificial turf together, using tires and sleds to get maximum results out of the athletes. It will be right by the weight room for easy access, along with the ability to combine workouts in both the weight room and the turf field. In the turf room facility, two batting cages with nets. It will be installed. This will allow baseball athletes to pitch or hit and enhance their skills while doing additional turf activities. The facility could be rented out for baseball practices as it will be equipped with facilities that can support such games.

Outdoor Artificial Turf Field

This is a very vital feature of the facility because it is the largest among all the facilities and will be hosting various events. It is the longest field measuring 100 yards, and it will be situated outside next to the indoor arena. It is designed so that it will be able to host games and training simultaneously due to its vast size. The athletes will be able to have the opportunity to train in agility exercises within the facility. The outdoor turf field will host features such as the bleachers where spectators and officials will be seated, a fieldhouse for equipment storage, and bathrooms for guests. The field will be rented out for practices and have the possibility to hold games. It will be an expensive addition, but it will be well worth the investment based on the flexibility and opportunities it allows the facility. It brings another element to the facility and the community of Miami.

Project Budget

A project budget is one of the key aspects of any project; it provides the estimation of costs it provides the required to complete the project. It guides the project because it estimates the cost for every project phase. Most of the budget includes labor, facility operating, and material costs (Adafin, Rotimi & Wilkinson, 2020). The document is not static as it will be reviewed throughout the project lifecycle. For the construction of the sporting complex, the budgeting process will have to include many activities, from acquiring six acres of land to constructing the complex. The budget is based on the current market value of the items and services listed in the budget. If there will be changes in the market value of the items listed in the budget, then the document will be revised to meet the value, and therefore a supplementary budget will also be prepared.

Table 1 shows the budget for the construction of the facility
