Technology influenced the process of study drastically, particularly in the medical field. Students now have an opportunity to access a more significant amount of information and research than ever, which can be extremely valuable for the educational process. Technology provides learners with VR and AR simulations that help practice real-life situations without performing on alive people (Staff, 2020). This is an excellent opportunity for students to practice hands-on-skill competencies with zero risk of harming the patient. Due to the realistic visualization, students can improve and deepen their knowledge in a shorter period.

Another positive change in the learning environment is the learner’s ability to have more control over the study process. Implementation of computer-assisted learning in educational institutions, according to the Staff (2020), “helps their students develop a more nuanced understanding of healthcare topics, medical procedures, and more.” Textbooks and video materials are fundamental sources for studying, but with advanced technologies, students can try different formats that are more comfortable and efficient.

Innovative technology, in addition, let the students emphasize more on practice. In the medical sphere, practice is as important as theory, for the health and lives of people strongly depend on the skill of the medical worker. Robotics serves as a great practice tool that can recreate different professional scenarios (Staff, 2020). The most significant advantage is that students can repeat it as much as possible and train different methods and approaches for their study.

However, along with all the benefits of technology, there are some challenges in the study process. One of the most significant issues is that all the necessary equipment is high-costly. Not all educational institutions can afford to buy new pieces of technology. Therefore, some students cannot access the innovative tools, but those who have can face the problem of simplification. Despite all the opportunities for study and practice, technologies at the same time can deprive the student of the problems and tasks that they should overcome and deal with themselves. Without the proper control, technological devices might not also help but cause damage simultaneously.
