Getting subjected to different forms of discrimination based on an individual’s color and place of origin has been one of the major problems within American societies. American societies are made up of individuals from different cultural backgrounds and places of origin. Some of the communities living within the American societies include immigrants from different parts of the world, such as Asia and Africa. The main cause of racism within American societies is the high superiority complex possessed by the white individuals living with the Asian American in the society. This paper is based on analyzing a photo of Indian Youth fighting racism within our societies where Indian youth were captured demonstrating in the streets.

The photo by Cocky Lee, captured in 1990, is captioned Indian Youth Against Racism. (“Beyond Bollywood – Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center”) The caption portrays how Asian individuals have been affected by different impacts of racism and are against all the cultures that promote racial discrimination in American societies. Racism has brought about different forms of social injustices and inequalities within American societies.

The picture portrays Indian youths who symbolize Asian immigrants staying within the American societies as the individuals who have been affected by the social injustices and inequalities in the American societies brought about by racism. The Indian youth captured in the picture is wearing a sad and frowny facial expression that symbolizes their devastation due to the high cases of racism that the Asian immigrants in American societies are subjected to.

The photo is also colored in black and white, which symbolizes the protagonists and the antagonists of racism. The white color symbolizes white individuals who support racism within the society, while the black color symbolizes individuals of darker skin who are mostly subjected to various forms of racial discrimination. Women in the photo also portray how racism affects all genders within the society, and they should all take part in fighting racism. Ensuring multiculturalism and diversity within the American society will help in eradicating racism and ensure a peaceful co-existence between the Americans and the Asians and other communities living in America.
