Currently, a number of reports have indicated an increasing rate of drug addiction amongst the youth in the Mattapan community. The issue has become a significant challenge to the people residing in the area since the majority of young individuals are extremely consuming illicit substances. The condition has worsened adolescents’ well-being because some drugs negatively affect their health. Furthermore, society has witnessed record-breaking school dropouts since the students have given much attention the illegal substances, thus making them ineffective in classwork.

The Mattapan Community Health Center (MCHC) has made an effort to develop effective strategies to curb the impact of addiction in the region. For proper management and prevention of drug infatuation among the youth in Mattapan, the MCHC should apply the Life Skills Training (LST) program since it will enable the organization to access vulnerable groups, which are students.

The LST project is an essential program that, when implemented, can bring significant change to the Mattapan community. Since most youth are schooling, creating a classroom prevention approach that is universal will serve an effective purpose in helping MCHC to reduce the prevalence of drug addiction among adolescents. The LST will focus on teaching middle school learners skills that will enable them to resist the usage of substances (Nasheeda et al., 2019). The program can contain the general social abilities that are necessary to make youths manage themselves despite the exposure to the real world. The core area of emphasis will be training the students on different ways to avoid the temptations of using drugs in order to lower the rate of addiction.

By creating and adopting the LST program, the MCHC will be responsible for ensuring the project is undertaken effectively across the middle schools where most youths learn. The organization will be forced to recruit various social workers to conduct the teachings in the respective learning centers in the Mattapan community. Therefore, to ensure the program runs successfully to meet the desire to lower the influence of drug addiction, MCHC management will employ a large amount of capital to train the professionals who will then educate the adolescence.

The issue of addressing the prevalence of drug addiction was chosen because the impacts of substance usage are severe and make most youths in the area lose focus. Furthermore, the local government has invested less effort in tackling the rate of addiction, leaving the parents with major roles to play despite the intensity of the challenge. By preventing the consumption of illicit drugs, students will have the opportunity to direct their energy in schooling, thus improving their future development (Nasheeda et al., 2019). The aim is to enable the community to reduce the side effects of drugs, such as cancer and other chronic diseases.

In order to implement the LST program effectively in the community, MCHC must liaise with the middle schools in Mattapan to develop a unique curriculum focused on skills development. By engaging the learning institutions, the organization will be able to have access to the majority of youth and impart significant social skills. Furthermore, it will require MCHC to have trained social workers to educate adolescence on possible ways of resisting the urge to use drugs. Based on the given topic, the presentation can be easily completed because a wide perspective can be covered to ensure the strategic plan is achieved.
