Steve Jobs leadership style
Steve Jobs was one of the most successful, influential, and respected organizational leaders in the history of the United States of America. He was an example of success for his numerous inventions, entrepreneurial spirit, marketing skills, and most importantly his unconventional style of leadership. He came across as a result-oriented leader who sought maximum output from everyone. Jobs commanded a lot of respect from his colleagues because of his nature of making decisions based on serious examination and judgment. Steve Jobs had a vision to achieve market leadership through the products and services he developed.
His strategic approach was to identify gaps within the technology industry, develop solutions, set trends, and let others follow. His aggressiveness, high level of intelligence, and willingness to learn from failures contributed to his indisputable success at the helm of Apple Inc.
His thinking style was dissimilar from that of conventional organizational leaders because he had the ability to see and understand things differently. He was a leader with an exceptional intellectual aptitude and believed in his ability to influence sustainable change in the world through development of innovative products and services. He established Apple Incorporation at a time when people across the world were freeing from illusions because they did not believe in science.
Jobs was bold enough to launch his company at that time because he had already established what people were looking for in the market. Courage is an attribute associated with unconventional leaders who believe that there is a solution to every challenge. Achieving success in a highly competitive market requires a leader with exceptional skills and a strong spirit in order to counter market forces that present obstacles.
Achieving leadership goals and objectives
Effective and reliable leadership is an essential element for success in any organization. It is important for organizational leaders to achieve all their goals and objectives. As a leader, I want to be successful in all undertakings, hence the need for development of certain traits and values that will place me ahead of my peers. The first thing that needs improvement is my character. Character is important to a leader because motivating people in order to achieve a common goal goes beyond commanding respect, being sensitive towards their needs, and embracing aggressiveness. Instead, I intend to develop inherent attributes such as the desire to promote ethics and morality through my actions and reactions. The second element that needs improvement is my position on leadership and its purpose.
I want to transform from a conventional leader into an unconventional leader. The reason for this is that unconventional leaders value the growth and welfare of the people they lead unlike conventional leaders who prioritize their own development and welfare at the expense of others. A successful leader is known by the degree of growth observed in the people and organizations they lead. Caring for others makes unconventional leaders stand out from conventional leaders.
Other elements that need improvement in order to achieve my leadership goals and objectives include courage, humility, and integrity. Courage will help me to make right decisions and defend my stand no matter the consequences. To succeed, I need to develop a culture of integrity by being honest and promoting compassion towards the people I lead. People will feel motivated to work when they know that their leader has these essential qualities.
