To this day, the majority of programs for suicide prevention have attempted to address certain populations that are considered to have a higher risk of suicidal behavior – for instance, by implementing anti-bullying programs and policies in schools and by training mental health providers on the specific needs of LGBT patients (HHSOSG & NAASP, 2012, pp. 40, 47).
