Introduction
The United States of America is constantly facing a lot of domestic and foreign policy implementations which have direct impact on the global economic stability. This paper looks into the American leadership impacts and its dominance in the international system on administration, peace, food security, and trade. As the world is steadily becoming a global village, the need to protect human rights from illegal activities in ungoverned areas across the world makes the American leadership ideal in managing such issues.
Moreover, the paper reviews leadership style of the American democratic system and the reasons why this style is significant in the unity, growth, and globalization of democracy. Besides, this reflective paper attempts to explicitly support the activities of the US towards building governance and the rule of law often associated with massive use of resources in these areas to promote a stable global economic system. In addition, the paper identifies the main reasons why these activities and investment portfolios are justified.
Economic Democratization of Global Trade
The democratic system of the US functions on social, political, security issues and the need for appreciation of diversity in practicing moral economic trade. From the history, it is evident that the US political system operates on the facets of foreign policy evaluation, forging allies, and modifying democracy in order to maintain relevance in line with the American dream and maintaining beneficial trade. As a matter of fact, the foundation of America consisted in the belief of existence of a supernatural being who would bless the nation on business prosperity and freedom of the entire globe. Since the historical perspective, America resonates on the ideology of ultimate triumph from involuntary slavery and exploitation (Johnson 2004).
Interestingly, the same has been rolled out successfully in regions deemed undemocratic, and has led to positive results such as liberation in Libya, Egypt, and the struggle going on in Syria where the population attempt to restore economic democracy. Since the foundation of America, the society is known to incline itself towards beneficial global trade. Statesmen would do everything to defend what they believe in as affirmed by Reagan’s strong defense of morality and the rule of law in the society of America in practicing business and signing long lasting business treaties with allies. The rule of law defines the moral standards of doing business being a clear guideline for the beneficial trade.
Economic policies of America define democracy and its practical aspects. Democratization of the economic system reveals the level of maturity of a nation. For instance, the contribution for a Democratic Society movement of 1962 by the students are accredited for the participatory approach in handling the problems affecting the global economic system rather than leaving the same to partisan politicians. According to Johnson (2004), “We have the power to shape the civilization that we want. But we need your will, your labor, your hearts, if we are to build that kind of society” (Johnson 2004). This society has formed the ideal governance structure for Israel and leaders from Africa who propose practicing capitalism at the periphery while promoting morality in business deals.
Creating Conducive Global Business Environment
As a precautionary measure, America has been active in building positive diplomatic relationships with the Middle East Block which is usually associated with the numerous terrorist groups. Eventually, the perception that the United States of America is an enemy is slowly fading away out of these nations since peaceful coexistence facilitates better business relationships. Also, alongside the United Nations Security Council in which America is a member, it has managed to eliminate threats of terrorism, gang, syndicates, and groups who blackmail the business community through extortion (Cramer, 2009). For instance, the US has managed to stem down gangs of Mexican origin who are known to extort business men and carry illegal trade activities.
Securing Ungoverned Trade Routes across the Globe
Ungoverned spaces in the current globe include the coastline of Somalia, the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan, and some remote parts in the larger Sub-Saharan Africa, among others. These places are often poorly governed due to inability to control its occupants, security lapses, or lack of resources to manage them. Due to minimal or complete lack of the rule of law in such areas, they become an immediate and substantial security threat towards international trade and fight against terrorists that threaten the existence of humanity. Generally, despite the clear laws and regulations defined by the United Nations bill on human rights, the above mentioned areas have no means of implementing policy based security trade plans.
Despite the lapse, these areas form part of the trade route, intelligence faculty, and world population. The demographic patterns in these areas necessitate the action adopted by the US to rebuild governance that is inclusive of the universal laws and cultures of the natives. Through “capacity-building programs, involving training, institutional development and the introduction of new legislation, policies and practice” (Brown, Cote, Lynne-Jones, & Miller 2009), it is possible to facilitate a smooth population transition and growth patterns for a better planning. For instance, the current expeditious anti piracy campaigns rolled out by America are intended to secure these trade routes from insurgents who have posed threat on global sea trade arena. As a result, economies of the globe continue to appreciate the influence of America as billions of dollars are saved. Due to anti piracy campaigns of America, sea trade has become safer and more reliable.
Standardizing Trade and Financial Systems
The leadership of America has provided both financial and diplomatic collaboration to different nations, and has created a central financial system called the IMF and the World Bank in partnership with trade allies. These systems are vital in loaning and bailing out states during the economic meltdown. As a result, the global business arena has adopted the moral standard of doing trade to ensure that both parties gain. For instance, the AGOA treaty is important in balancing trade between first world and third world countries (Schear 2010). Interestingly, the constitution has ensured that the US remains neutral despite promoting democracy while working with allies to defeat their enemy.
America has an organized active military and effective war strategy in managing global peace. Indeed, the political system is determined to embrace peace and negotiation through forming alliance with other nations as a way to defeat mischievous deeds of some nations that do not practice moral economic trade (Johnson 2004). In the last half of the decade, the neo-liberalist system controlling business environment in the United States is based on the ideology of totalitarian democracy in which decisions on business and other matters of public interest are made by a democratic system. In its bid to restore normalcy in standardized business practices, America has come out strongly to condemn the unfair business dealings of the Asian Tiger.
Research on Alternative Clean Affordable Energy
Green energy is currently the main agenda in a number of global meetings such as Copenhagen treaty, Washington DC conferences, and European Union declarations. It is a means of protecting the future while exploiting sustainable production energy variables. Green energy research has inspired the entire world to start adopting these sustainable technologies. For instance, the Toyota and Chrysler hybrid model has adopted green electric energy to replace fuel propelled engines. Besides, solar power and nuclear energy exploitation has substantially reduced the cost of production, thus reducing the cost of products. American leadership has been in the forefront of facilitating these strategies that are aimed at making the global trade business arena competitive and sustainable in the long run (Henretta & Brody 2009).
Moreover, the government of America is working in regards to the carbon trade. Though still immature, this policy is becoming popular with all nations of the world. Under carbon trade, the government promotes reduction of carbon and other dangerous gas emissions into the environment especially from industries. Thus, these implementation strategies alongside the congressional bills have been approved and incorporated into a larger legislative framework of managing clean environment. Due to massive influence in the trade arena, America has succeeded in convincing its global trade partners to adopt the low carbon processing policy to ensure healthy global population. As a result, when successfully implemented, the expenditure on environmentally related ailments will substantially reduce and these saving can be spread in other sectors of the economy (Henretta & Brody 2009).
Corporate Social Responsibility
In practical essence, it is factual to assert that permanent solutions to diseases and genocide are achievable when the genesis of the same is incorporated in an action plan. Over the last four decades, the leadership of America on foreign policy has been consistent in rolling out projects aimed at protecting the demographic patterns, resources misuse, and monitoring the global macro-economic environment because the “squalid living conditions that exist in the rings of slums that now surround many large Third World cities are becoming a fairly permanent condition” (Haverluk 2007) in these areas. Though the outcomes for most of these intervention strategies are long term, the benefits are universal that facilitate sovereignty and acculturation.
Generally, resources directed by America toward poor states has led to creation of safe havens for international trade and restoring resource distribution among the conflicting parties. For instance, USAID and CDC have remained very active and beneficial to more than 100 countries across the globe in economic liberation and disease control. In the long term, these policies are beneficial in creating permanent ties since countries would prefer a business partner with social interests on their survival. As a result, America currently has a stake of 30% in all foreign trade activities in Africa due to its close social tie (Haverluk 2007).
In summary, the political and social systems that operated in America in the past eras have been active in implementing the global policies. These policies address security, democracy, and the rule of law in fair business practices. Due to developed institutionalized policy approach, the leadership of America is strategically positioned towards transforming the world into a global village. In the last two decades, America has voluntarily committed billion of dollars attempting to make the world a global business arena.
