My attitude towards the world evolved from participating in the Stop the Bleed campaign. I started to view the ability to help a person as a commodity that should be made by everyone in this world. The campaign’s purpose is to save lives by teaching people how to stop severe bleeding across the country (Stop the Bleed, n.d.). I have had adequate training in CPR and have studied numerous methods for halting arterial or venous bleeding, as well as my BLS certification. Therefore, I could say that I was familiar with most of the things that were introduced by the organization. Nevertheless, I volunteered to be able to spread this knowledge and awareness because it may save someone’s life.
In consideration of my involvement with the project, I felt that my contribution was adequate as I learned essential skills that I could apply in emergencies and guide people on what to do. As a result, the goal of the organization would be fulfilled as I aim to continue spreading knowledge about the organization and the proper ways to stop the bleeding. In addition, I became certain that my civic identity and contribution to society would involve raising awareness and teaching necessary medical knowledge for the proliferation of safety within the community. I believe that this project aimed to engage in civic activity to understand better how it is possible to contribute to society and adapt to the world outside of one’s comfort zone. During the Stop the Bleed program, I learned and performed life-saving actions and necessary information that will allow prolongation of life in case of severe bleeding. At the same time, I am committed to preserving the knowledge that I received and applying it in any situation that may arise in front of me.
