Commission on women status is an important aspect in society since it supports the equality and the well-being of both males and females. In this case, I will focus on the remissions from Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), which is the significant international intergovernmental body dedicated to supporting the equality of genders, including women empowerment. The themes focus on the need for women’s complete and effective involvement and decision-making in public life, including removal of violence to achieve gender equality. I support the commission’s idea of empowering women and girls to fight for their rights. I also support the body’s idea of a review theme that checks on the empowerment of women in society linking it to sustainable development, which is one of the main discussions of the sixtieth session.

The commission’s establishment was Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) resolution 11(II) of June 21st, 1946 (UN Women, 2021). In the session, I realized that the instrumental plan is to promote the rights of women and policies concerning the women’s lives globally, including streamlining international standards on gender equality, including women’s empowerment. I support the involvement of the commission’s mainstreaming gender perspectives in the UN activities. The scheduling of the commission on the Status of Women for 15th and 16 March 2021 would virtually be held according to the requirements of the current evolving situation of COVID-19.

The main message I gathered in the session was supporting women’s similar involvement in different roles in society and in decision-making to achieve success in the fight for gender equity. I also support the members trying to teach the working modalities while conforming to the circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic. There is collaboration of the member states and the national stakeholders to ensure the commission mission’s progress of achievement in gender equality. I posit that the session’s main agenda is to create a more equal and sustainable society for future prosperity of human generations.

I concur with the themes of the commission’s bureau because they play vital role in facilitating the preparation of the commission’s annual sessions and ensuring to achieve successful results. I support the bureau members’ commission rule of serving for two years as an official, which helps improve its performance and ensure continuity. Consequently, the commission decided to hold the first meeting of its subsequent session by immediately following the regular session’s closure to elect the new Chairperson and other bureau officials (UN Women, 2021). I realized that the bureau for the 65th session of 2021 of the Commission on Women’s Status comprises many members with a representative from each group (UN Women, 2021). The officials are from different countries but have similar ideals and policies that steer the organization. The Eastern European States Group representative is H. E. Mr. Mher Margaryan, who is the body’s Chairperson. The African States Group representative, Ms. Ahlem Sara Charikhi, is from Algeria. Other representatives include the Asian-Pacific States Group representative from the Republic of Korea, Mr. Na Sang Deok, who is the Vice-Chair. Lastly, the Western European and other States Group Vice-Chair designate is from Australia, Ms.Shilpa Pullela, representing Western Europe and Australia. I support the commission’s modality of operation, such as promoting the universal discussion about the gender equality status with the identification of the achieved missions and goals, and the underway efforts to counter the possible challenges and gaps. Further, I too support its convening of the ministerial segments to confirm and strengthen the commitment to political activities and realizing the equality of genders including women and girls’ empowerment.
