Introduction
During the time of the Cold War, the World had two superpowers, the United States and Russia as both of them had nuclear powers. Later due to many political problems, once unified Russia broke into several countries, and along with the invincibility of Russia was lessen in many cases. But now we live in Modern times which may be dubbed as the post-post-Cold War period. The interesting thing in this World is that now we do not have two superpowers, but most of the developed and also several developing countries possess nuclear weapons in their arsenal and are always ready to use the weapons.
Now, the power of a country lies in its economics and how it dominates the Global Market. Oil and petroleum are getting the most precious commodities in the World. In many cases in the recent past United States of America has dominated the World scenario. But now it is changing. With the emergence of new superpowers, the World is coming to a new situation. And 25 years from now, the World as we know now can thoroughly change (Taylor 1).
The Emergence of China as the new superpower and the direct competitor of the United States of America
Under the communist reign, China has dramatically transformed its economy and military and it can be easily said that as a Communist country, China is dissatisfied with the way World has treated them for so long. The country has a neverending work force, largely due to the huge population and also they are equally developing themselves in Science and technology. The Chinese military now has all the modern weapons that can be assembled, and having one of the largest armies in the World only adds up to their strength.
In the field of economy, it is expected that by the year 2010, China will be the largest economy in the World. One has to remember that the GDP of “China has been quadrupled in the last fifteen years” (Hu and Khan 1). The engagement of China by the Western World, mainly by the United States of America can be devastating.
In the future, China can be a potential security threat to the other World Powers too. To maintain the balance, clear and transparent security strategies must be implied by all the superpowers, and by these implantations, the World can be at peace.
Oil-rich Countries will stand against the United States of America
Petroleum is the most treasured mineral in Modern World and the country that has more stock in these products has a better grip on the economy. It is known that the Middle-East countries are generally oil-rich and they even export oil for business. But the United States of America, itself an oil-rich country, always tries to dominate these countries. Sometimes it is said that the recent wars in the Middle East in which the United States had direct relations had no other reason but their idea to dominate the oil sources of these lesser military-powered countries. Russia once had many petroleum mines, but now after the dissolve of the country, they had lost that wealth (Tristam 1).
Now we can tell these Arab countries like oil-rich countries and these countries are facing a lot of problems from the United States of America in many aspects. These countries are surely going to stand against the voracious attitude of the United States of America, maybe by forming some kind of mutual alliance. The alliance will surely be supported by some other international powers in this war against the United States.
European Union will stand against the United States of America
The European Union has recently taken a revolutionary step in the history of World economics. From 1st January 2002, 16 of the 27 members of the European Union have made Euro as their currency. And the countries having the euro as their currency are “France, Germany, Greece, Nederland, Portugal, Spain” (Rosenberg 1) and others. The Eurozone is the second largest currency zone in the World. It is also the second most widely held reserve currency. In both cases, the dollar is still in the first place, but if they continue to grow on it will surely eclipse the dollar.
But the question lies in other places. It is to be noted that 16 countries have come together economically by Euro. It may happen shortly that the countries may dissolve and have elections together and also can make an army. If this happens that it will be the World’s number one superpower, and will directly challenge the growths of the United States of America and China.
India will be the leader of the 3rd World Countries
All the discussions in the above cases are about the superpowers of the world and what they can do next. But we are forgetting the biggest part of the world is still developing and these countries are also a huge factor in the world economy. The developing countries are India, the countries in South-East Asia, most of the countries of Africa and South America. Among these countries, India is developing at a real good pace.
Indians are getting World wide reorganization due to their scientific knowledge and other academic qualifications. Also, India has many natural treasures like a lot of mines and other resources (Harris 1). It is one of the most populated countries in the World, so they have manpower too. It can be said that India will dominate the Third World countries or to be very precise the developing countries very soon.
The pressure of India will be directly faced by the First World countries as they will compete against the huge Indian economy in the International market. It can be said that India will ultimately lead all the developing countries in the economical fight. And it can also be predicted that due to their similar structures in economy and government, their superpower neighbors, who will be the arch-enemy of the United States of America in the next 25 years will surely help India in this domination. This will be one of the fiercest economic battles the World has ever seen.
Conclusion
The next quarter-century will be very vital for the World, as it will see a sea-change in World domination. And this will test the strength of the United States along with some other superpowers. But it can not be predicted that if the United States will be engaged in any war, except the all-around economical pressure from most of the countries that have been dominated by the United States in recent times. The post-post-Cold War scenario is not bright for the United States.
