Designing and understanding the processes used in project management

This is important since wide research is required to enhance the level of understanding on the processes to be followed. The importance of the project must be understood and well articulated, it requires coaching by someone who is experienced in the specified area (Levine, 2002).

Resource management and allocation

Wise use of the organization funds and time is of prime importance. The manager should ensure no wastage of time on any task or action that is to be undertaken. Time spent wisely results into positive attitude and ultimately productive results. It enables the project manager to apportion the right resource on the right task with minimum cost possible.

Wise navigation

Wise navigation involves good planning that enable possible predictions of final result on the successful project. The result should be divided into manageable phases and each phase defined by a critical path, this enables each team member to easily understand what is required of him/her.

Making corresponding schedules

The amount of time to apportion each task must be followed to the latter in order to ensure that minimum possible time is lost between tasks.

Drawing a clear distinction between roles involved in management

The project requires full participation and attention of the manager; therefore concern should be drawn on how to differentiate between technical and management duties. This is an important principle that must be considered to avoid confusion, wastage of resources and enable timely completion of projects.

Developing complete plans

For this to be realised there is need to involve specific teams who will be directly affected by the project. This will enable each team to perform their duties within the required time. Every detail required in the project should be shown and this calls for review of previous Work Breakdown Structures to establish the required level of detail.

Control over each phase of the project

The project plan being used must be checked daily in order to establish if at all the project is moving as per the written plan. This makes it easier for the necessary adjustments to be made and establish their impact. This also calls for open, clear and direct communication concerning the progress to each individual team. This ensures that each team holds regular meetings to review the tasks and make possible adjustments to enhance delivery (Levine, 2002).

Managing failures

This can be achieved by not compromising on the firm belief that the project will ultimately succeed. The non-project events must be well planned for since they have great impact on the project schedule. These events may include; meetings, days-off, vacations and other non-related projects.

Implementing strengths

This calls for the project managers ability to recall and put into practise knowledge theoretically learned in class. The project manager should be convinced that he/she has the right knowledge that can be applied in various sections including budget control (Levine, 2002).

Project close down

The full lifecycle of the project must be known by the manager, he/she should be aware of the end of each task. An open channel for feedback should be created for team members this helps the manager to collect diverse views and critically analyse every aspect and phase of the project. The project manager should spare some time for forums with various teams and enlighten them on project review. This will lead to more generation of information that might be of help in future projects (Levine, 2002).
