- Description of Suspect : Suspect, male, white of apparent Caucasian descent, around 5 feet 10 inches, weight approx. 350 lbs, approximately 25 years of age, scruffy facial hair, shaggy brown hair, and dirty appearance; last seen wearing a red flannel shirt, blue jeans, and black tennis shoes. Possibly having female accomplice with long blonde hair as driver of their getaway car.
- Details of getaway car: Blue Chevrolet Camaro, unknown license plate, with paint transfer marks and major dent on the passenger quarter panel
- Victim: Name- Tim McMurray, DOB- October 20, 2004, 5 years, Male/White, around 5 feet 10 inches, weight approx.115 lbs. Address: 234 Lincoln Street, Liverton, IL
- Use of weapon by suspect: “Unlawful use of weapon” to threaten potential victim (Legal defenders, PC, 2006).
Incident Description
On 11/2/2009, McMurray was walking home from school when he was approached on foot, from behind, by the suspect. The suspect asked McMurray, “Kid, which way to the hospital?” As McMurray started to give the suspect directions, the suspect attempted to grab McMurray in a bear-hug.
McMurray was able to fight his attacker, kneeing him in the groin area. While the suspect was incapacitated momentarily, McMurray fled southbound on Main Street; he looked back to see the suspect get into the passenger side of a blue Chevrolet Camaro, unknown license plate. McMurray did notice red paint transfer on the passenger quarter panel and a major dent in the same area. He did not see the driver clearly, but believed it was a woman, after catching a glimpse of somebody with long blond hair behind the steering wheel.
The vehicle made a U-turn and travelled northbound on Main Street. McMurray continued to flee to a friend’s home in the area he was in, where he immediately telephoned police and provided a narration of the incident that had taken place. The police patrol car stopped by the place where Tim was, and showed him some photographs of suspects wanted in similar child abduction cases. From the photographs provided, he was able to identify one person. Police believes this suspect has a police record and has previous complaint under case 0006- 3599 registered in his name. According to police records, his name is Tim Brown and he is wanted in several cases of abduction and assaults.
Alert
Patrol officers and duty officers are required to attempt to locate and/or identify the offending vehicle, and report any information about possible suspects back to your office or to the detective in charge of this case, “Report all suspicious persons and activity, or information regarding this case to the Liverton, IL, Chicago Police Station immediately at 630 -752-1230 referring to Case Number 0006-3863 (Camps crime alert bulletin, 2010).
