The present paper focuses on three works by Audrey Fox. The first work is Ribbons of Light in the Night (Fig. 1). The medium is gouache on board. The second work is entitled An Ending in Wishbones and Sea Clams (Fig. 2). The medium is oil on canvas. The third work goes under the title She Took Off Her Glove (Fig. 3). The medium is oil on linen. Though the medium of the three works is different, the works share lots of features in common.

In the first place, the works are examples of abstract art. The color palette is rich. Notably, there is no white space in the works. Blue color prevails. It is possible to notice numerous tints of this color. The background of the three works is blue. This color stands for the sky and the sea in the works. Audrey Fox also uses green, red and yellow, or rather different hues of these colors. These tints help create contrast, which makes the necessary emphasis.

It is difficult to identify the specific subject of the work, but there is a certain emphasis on different objects. The objects in the works are of different shapes and sizes, and this helps create the necessary focus. Thus, in Ribbons of Light in the Night, there are several central ribbons, so-to-speak (Fig. 1). These ribbons are placed in the top corners and bottom right corner. The stress is made with the help of yellow.

The emphasis is created with the help of red in An Ending in Wishbones and Sea Clams (Fig. 2). It is necessary to note that in this work, shapes play a very important role as well. Thus, the shapes create the illusion of rippling water surface. Red creates emphasis in the third work. The glove is red, and it is rather easy to identify it. However, even though the subject seems clear, i.e., the glove, there is a feeling that the subject of the work is something more than a garment.

Since the works are abstract, the perspective is linear. There is no need to provide a three-point perspective as the main idea is revealed with the help of the color and shapes. Notably, objects remind waves or rippling water. Blue color emphasizes the idea of water and air. It is possible to state that there is a certain unity of color and shape as they convey the main idea.

Admittedly, every viewer sees something of his/her own in the works. However, it is possible to assume that the works reveal a new way to look at the known objects. Thus, ribbons, wishbones, and gloves are all objects which gain a new life in the pictures. They become a part of something bigger.

They become a part of the universe. Thus, Audrey Fox helps viewers see the unity and beauty of the universe where everything is interconnected. Water and air are two major elements which form the universe. The works in question focus on these elements using some objects as a background. They make the viewer feel the power of water and air. The works also make the viewer admire artistic ability to notice simple but beautiful things.
