Sisters in the Struggle
Black women experience a double burden dealing with both sex and race prejudice. Despite their identical place in the community, there has been a longstanding distinct on the predicament of black women in the states in terms of gender and race. Rosemary suggests that comprehending the distinctions between black women and men and between white vs. black women is critical to learning the nature of black womanhood. She terms jeopardy to institute the dual discrimination of sexism and racism experienced by black women. Rosemary expounds that while the content of double trouble is assimilated as having an additive impact on the subjection of black women, the influence acts more like a multiplier. According to Akua, there is no equal weight in feminist discourse that is idyllically true (Womack, 2020). The women’s movement is often outlined as a white middle class even though black only are oppressed when but are more favorable to the aims of the women’s movement.
Wash Day Film
There is no disagreement with the reality that contempt for black hair ceases today. British colonists regard African hair as closer to sheep wool than human hair, setting the impression that white hair is ideally good (Maxwell,2022). For instance, in the case of Collin Kaepernick, who was protesting the oppression of the black, he faced criticism due to his afro hair. The mechanism by which I could internalize sartorial aesthetics and anti-black beauty is by recognizing how anti-blackness manifests. The comprehension of the systematic inequalities will help me understand the role I will participate in upholding oppressive systems. My definition of self-love is a state where individuals appreciate themselves, which grows from actions that support a person’s spiritual, psychological, and physical growth. I prioritize by putting my self-care first, for instance, turning my phone on silent to read a book. The second measure I employ is to surround myself with individuals who make me smile and focus on things I love.
Black Men Loving
The film changed my perspective on black fathers, as the men have outlined to influence their children’s outcomes strongly. Their values, parenting styles, attitudes, and behavior strongly contribute to their children’s evolution. It is evident from the film that children’s relationship with their fathers has a substantial impact on children’s success. Such instances present are the fathers being an example of a strong work ethic providing support, guidance, encouragement, and high expectations (Signifier, 2022). True love binds and rebukes the structural impediments through which some black individuals live and die. To expound on die refers to murder as the political and slow economic process that revolves around a society. When Brandon refers to black love as being radical and political, he refers to love that can activate black politics built by ethical mutual care. An ethic that rotates upon a grounding principle of distributed responsibility and concern.
