Flinder Valves and Controls Inc. (FVC) was a small company located in Southern California. It mainly dealt with the manufacture of specialty valves and heat exchangers. During the 1980s, the company experienced major positive growth. It was a key player in the production of heat-exchanger products. At the initial phase, the manufacture of the valves was carried out from an experimental perspective to test the functionality of the finished products.

To begin with, it was necessary for the FVC Company to set the right stage for the production process. Some of the vital properties required in the production process were leased while others were bought. The 1987 Engineering Corporation facilitated the lease. After all the lease requirements were met, the company obtained the licensed patents and was ready to proceed with the production process.

Additional properties were bought and fully owned by FVC within seven years. Most of the material goods were bought from the Engineering Corporation Company. Bill Flinder was a reputable researcher during that time. His able leadership enabled the FVC Company to own the properties of Engineering Corporation.

Flinder was a very instrumental personality in the field of research and development. He applied his vast knowledge in research to develop new products and also improve the existing product portfolio. He ensured that all the company products had sufficient patent protection.

Also, it is pertinent to mention that FVC gained a lot of positive reputation in terms of engineering excellence. It can be recalled that the company was awarded several contracts by the US authorities due to its impressive performance. At one point, FVC developed a “widening gyre”. The latter was a high-tech hydraulic control system. It was also contracted to build several engineering tools for the defense and aerospace industries.

Due to a large number of multi-million dollar contracts, FVC recorded an impressive growth of 23 percent during the first three months of 2008. On the other hand, the immediate market rivals hardly performed well during the same period.

One of the important growth factors that compelled the impressive performance of FVC was that modern constructions coupled with well organized and efficient plants were used by the company in the course of its production.

The main foreign distributor of FVC was the Auden Company. It was an expanse and well-established organization that strategically facilitated FVC sales overseas. Financial records indicated that the Auden Company accounted for almost 15 percent of all the foreign sales.

Moreover, direct FVC sales and overseas sales via Auden totaled up to about one-third of the sales. The emerging markets also contributed up to 50 percent of all the foreign sales. Countries such as Mexico, Korea, and Brazil significantly contributed to the overseas sales of the FVC Company.

The close business relationship between FVC and the Auden Company led to interesting developments in the mid-1990s. For instance, 20 percent of the ordinary stock from FVC was taken over by the Auden Company. Several companies also requested FVC Inc. for a merger towards the end of the 1990s.

In spite of the several merger requests, only the RSE International Corporation concluded the process. This company was founded way back in 1970 by Tom Eliot. It managed to create a strong business portfolio with the FVC Company. After that, the merger became a major force to reckon with in the engineering industry.
