Introduction
Protecting the environment across borders is an alliance by the state to ensure that the environment has been protected since it affects the health of human beings, living organisms and the environment itself. These laws should be enacted in order to ensure that the environment is protected since it is the environment, which is the core of every creature, and if we do not protect the environment then nature will take its cause Pollution is the introduction of contaminants in to the environment that eventually causes human health problems, living organisms are also affected and the bigger environment at large. This pollution can be inform of chemicals, energy and hence the sources of these pollutants need to be controlled by enacting laws to ensure that these pollutants do not occur. (Menell, 2003).
Emphasis on cleaning meth labs
Meth labs used to make illegal drug methamphatamine, turn up in houses, apartments, motel rooms, sheds, trailers and even motor vehicles and hence as a result the state and the local authorities seized more than 940 labs in Oklahoma alone but the number of lab seizures by law increases each year. As the agencies restrict the products need to make methamphetamine, the methods and locations of production are changing and hence as a result, this adds to the difficulty health.
The Oklahoma department of health and Oklahoma department of environmental quality emphasize much on the cleaning up of these meth labs since they produce illegal drugs that are harmful to human beings and the environment itself. Air pollution is one of the major pollutants to the environment. You find that most of the People can be exposed to inhalation of these gases which contain suspended contaminant particles as dust and hence as a result, this can be harmful to people and that’s why these meth labs should be cleaned up.
Water pollution is another pollutant to the environment. You find that most of the big industries do not have proper disposal measures for their waste products and normally dispose them the running waters like rivers and oceans. Also properties used to produce meth have containers of chemicals like anhydrous ammonia and these chemicals can cause serious health threats to those working with them and then should be eliminated. (David, 2000).
Health effects
Many of the chemicals used in meth labs have harmful effects to those who are exposed to them and some of the problems are breathing problems, respiratory irritation, skin and eye irritation, headaches, nausea and dizziness and more exposure may even cause death. Occupational and environmental health must be observed in order to ensure that the health of the workers is not at risk so there should be environmental and occupational laws, which should be put in place. In order to help from contracting these health problems, the best thing to do is to ensure that proper cleaning has been done with use of gloves in order to ensure that any contamination has been removed. (David, 2000).
Conclusion
Occupational and environmental health must be observed in order to ensure that the health of the workers is not at risk so there should be environmental and occupational laws, which should be put in place. The U.S department of labor offers occupational and health administration to its workers and it also provides tips to protect employees from environmental hazards.
